The meeting was another action taken within the project “Step Towards Democracy” organised by the Secretariat for Youth. During the first day of the meeting young people acquainted themselves with the guidelines of the Strategy for The Baltic Sea and the recommendations worked out by each country, regions and organization... The event consisted of two parts: workshops and cultural and entertainment part. Forty-five young people from Zachodniopomorskie Province took part in the workshops. They came from such cities and towns like: Goleniów, Szczecin, Biesiekierz, Mosty, Kamień Pomorski, Lipiany, Kostrzyń nad Odrą, Stargard Szczeciński. Together they learned from our trainers about active participation, cooperating in an international group, how to acquire for funds and manage a project. Among the participants there were representatives from Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and Russia. The event started on Thursday 9th October in “Wolin” hotel in Międzyzdroje. The meeting started with an intercultural training to help in breaking the ice, overcome differences and to understand the specificity of the regions. The meeting also included integration games dealing with stereotypes and learning languages of the participants. There was a possibility to watch photos from different regions of Europe, try various cuisines and to listen to regional music. Time of developing ideas, discussions, discovering differences and similarities of views, attitudes and cultures. The beautiful landscape of Cesis region was an excellent background for youth activities. Even the weather was generous to us –we enjoyed long sunny days of the northern hemisphere. Westpomeranian Region was represented by the members of the Westpomeranian Youth Council – Michał Matlak, Marta Stolarska, Joanna Kropopek and Pawweł Grządko.
